Ouibus from Lyon to Périgueux and flashes of thought:
Hey!
WiFi on the bus! And power outlet and USB port!
Pretty sure I put all my cords in my big suitcase that's below. Maybe
not. I'll wait until I need it. Pretty modern and brand new bus.
This countryside is SO, SO BEAUTIFUL.
Like going to Vermont in the summer but with stone cottages dotting the
landscape everywhere!!
The bus drivers flash their lights at each other.
Nice.
I always considered areas of Europe, like France, would
be totally cared for, controlled land. But there are many large areas that are still wild.
Forests and vast fields, not totally naturally wild, but a "managed" wild, it seems. Still, so
much open area.
Hey! Rest areas!
A winding river. A blue heron flying high above. Sunflower fields where the
heads are black and heavily hanging down and
corn fields dying. Some harvested. Some not.
Through Clermont-Fernand. A clean and well organized
city. I'm impressed. Again. Then up and up over a mountain on a fresh black highway.
Tall spruce, mist, and many round-abouts. Those wonderful gray stone homes. Some stucco,
too, painted butter yellow, soft rust, beige.
Fields, white cattle, hay cylinders. Down, down the west side now.
In the distance beyond the valley, more hills and mountains. Dramatic gray and white fluffy clouds create extra beauty to the landscape.
